Katie Updated Bio

 

Katie McDonald is a nonprofit professional with experience in project management, individual and institutional fundraising, strategic planning, and nonprofit operations. Katie joined the team at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) in August 2019 as the agency’s Grants Manager, where she secured revenue from new and longstanding institutional partners, expanded the agency’s funding portfolio, managed foundation and corporate grant proposals and reports, and worked collaboratively across the agency’s programs, finance, and fund development department to execute grant deliverables.

Prior to joining the BBBSLA team, Katie served as the Associate Director of Individual Giving at Five Acres, a Los Angeles County-based child and family service agency, where she was responsible for the solicitation and stewardship of major gifts, event coordination, volunteer engagement, and collaborative marketing and fundraising initiatives. Katie also served on the Five Acres Process Council – an executive and cross-departmental advisory group that oversaw and managed the agency’s strategic plan’s execution and deliverables. Katie has also worked for and interned at numerous Los Angeles-based nonprofit agencies in fundraising and operations-based capacities, including Journey Out, the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, Saving Innocence, and the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House.

Katie’s passion for nonprofit work is rooted in serving her community and strengthening and supporting the lives of Los Angeles’ underserved populations. She holds her B.A. in History from Occidental College and her Master of Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Southern California. Katie is a former member of the Junior League of Pasadena and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Los Angeles Chapter.
